Counselling Services
At Towards the Horizon, we provide counselling services to both NDIS participants and privately paying clients. Whether you are accessing support through your NDIS plan or seeking private therapy, we offer professional, compassionate, evidence‑informed counselling and walk alongside you throughout your therapeutic journey.
What to Expect in Counselling
Counselling at Towards the Horizon offers a safe, respectful, and non‑judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, thoughts, feelings, and personal goals. Sessions are collaborative and person‑centred, meaning you guide the pace and focus of therapy while support is tailored to your individual needs and personal circumstances.
Counselling is delivered ethically and confidentially in line with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) standards and within a trauma‑informed framework that prioritises emotional safety, choice, and stability. Depending on your goals, counselling may support you to better understand and manage experiences such as anxiety, low mood or depression, panic, stress, and feelings of overwhelm.
Through counselling, you may build greater insight and self‑awareness, develop emotional regulation and coping strategies, process past or present experiences (including trauma), navigate grief, loss, and life transitions, and strengthen resilience, confidence, and overall wellbeing. You are always welcome to ask questions, request breaks, or communicate your needs at any time.
Our Counselling Approach
We believe that meaningful and lasting change begins within a strong therapeutic relationship. Our counsellors focus on building a genuine, supportive connection grounded in respect, compassion, and understanding, where your lived experiences are honoured and your voice remains central to the process. Our counselling approach is collaborative, integrated, and trauma‑informed. We work alongside you with curiosity and care, supporting you to connect with your strengths, insight, and inner resources while responding to you as a whole person — including your history, experiences, and the meanings you make of them.
Counselling is informed by a range of evidence‑informed frameworks, including developmental and attachment‑focused approaches, trauma‑responsive and somatic‑aware practices, strengths‑based and skills‑focused therapies, and modalities that explore patterns, personality, and human development. This flexible approach allows counselling to be tailored to your unique needs, preferences, and goals, supporting clarity, resilience, and movement toward change that feels authentic and sustainable.
